DIRECT ANSWER

Error 5 means the main brush can't turn. Hair and thread wrap around the roller and its bearings until the motor gives up. S7 models announce "Error 5: Main brush jammed. Clean main brush and bearings."

COMMON CAUSES · RANKED

1

Hair wrapped around the roller MOST COMMON

Long hair and pet fur wind around the brush body and pack into tight bands.

2

Debris in the bearings and end caps

Hair hidden inside the two end bearings stalls the brush even when the roller itself looks clean.

3

Object jammed in the brush slot

A sock edge, cable or toy piece caught in the brush housing locks the roller solid.

HOW TO FIX IT

SAFETY · READ THIS FIRST

Keep fingers away from the blade edge of the cleaning tool while cutting tangled hair off the brush.

Remove the main brush

Flip the robot, press the latches on the brush cover, and lift the brush out.

Cut away tangled hair

Use the cleaning tool's blade to slice hair bands along the roller, then pull them off.

Clean both bearings

Pull off the end caps and bearing, and clear the hair packed inside — this step is the one most people skip.

Check the brush slot

Look inside both installation slots for jammed objects before refitting the brush.

Refit and test

Reinstall brush and cover until they click, then run a short clean. Roborock suggests testing with Carpet mode enabled.
