Roomba Error 36 — Bin-full sensor won't clear
DIRECT ANSWER
COMMON CAUSES · RANKED
Dusty bin-full sensors MOST COMMON
Fine dust films over the sensor windows on the bin and cleaning head, locking the full reading in place.
Debris still packed in the bin
A clog at the evacuation port means the Clean Base pulled less than it should have.
Full Clean Base bag
With no room in the bag, evacuation is weak and the bin never truly empties.
HOW TO FIX IT
Rinse the bin and its door
Remove the filter first, rinse the bin with water, and let everything air-dry completely.
Wipe the sensors on the robot
Clean the bin-full sensor windows on the cleaning head with a dry cloth — no liquids on the robot side.
Check the Clean Base bag
Swap a full bag and clear the evacuation port under the robot.
Reboot the robot
Hold CLEAN for ten seconds. If error 36 still returns, the cleaning head module may need replacement.
