Roomba Error 1 — Wheel stuck or hanging
DIRECT ANSWER
COMMON CAUSES · RANKED
Robot beached on an obstacle MOST COMMON
It climbed a threshold, cable bundle or rug edge and one wheel lost contact with the floor.
Hair packed into the wheel well
Wrapped hair and grit stop the wheel from moving up and down freely.
Worn wheel module RARE
If a clean wheel still refuses to turn by hand, the motor inside the module is done.
HOW TO FIX IT
Move the robot
Set it on open, level floor in the middle of the room and press CLEAN.
Clear both wheel wells
Flip the robot, push each side wheel up and down several times, and pull out any hair or debris.
Spin the wheels by hand
Both should turn freely with the same resistance. A wheel that binds needs a new module.
Fence off repeat trouble spots
If it beaches in the same place every run, block that area with a Virtual Wall or a keep-out zone.
